Include every required element
A standard title page carries: the full title, your name and student ID, the degree being sought, the department and university, your supervisor, the submission date and the word count. Some universities also require a short declaration of originality.
Match your university’s format exactly
Universities often specify font, spacing and whether a logo is allowed. Always check your dissertation handbook or template — the title page is the first thing a marker sees, and formatting errors create a poor first impression.
Keep it clean and centred
The title page should be uncluttered: centred text, generous spacing, no page number. Let the title stand out.

No — the title page, contents, references and appendices are almost always excluded from the dissertation word count. Only the main body counts. Check your handbook to be sure.
